Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

Planneo ("Planneo", "we", "us") provides a shared finance app for couples. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have over it under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

By using Planneo you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Who is responsible for your data

Planneo is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at [TODO: real contact email] for any question or request about your data.

What we collect

Account data: your name, email address, and authentication details when you sign up or log in.

Financial data you enter: transactions (amount, date, category, notes), accounts, goals, and earmarks, and whether a transaction is split with your partner.

Space data: which space you belong to, your role (admin or member), and, if you send an invite, the email address you invite.

Usage data: pages you visit and how you use Planneo, collected only if you consent to analytics cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

Why we process it and our legal basis

To provide the service — create your space, record transactions, calculate splits and settlements — which is necessary to perform our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

To keep Planneo secure and prevent abuse, which is our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

To understand and improve how Planneo is used, only with your consent via analytics cookies (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw this consent at any time in Cookie settings.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data, and we don't share it for advertising purposes.

We use a small number of service providers to run Planneo: Supabase for authentication and database hosting, and Vercel for application hosting and, where you've consented, analytics. They process data only on our instructions, under a data processing agreement.

The other participant in your space can see the transactions, splits, and settlements recorded there — that shared financial picture is what the app is built to show.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard recognized under GDPR Chapter V.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and financial data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we must keep it longer to meet a legal obligation.

If you accept an invite to another space, your existing solo space and everything in it is permanently deleted at that point — see our Terms of Service for why.

Security

We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and hosting with reputable providers — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your rights (EU / UK / EEA)

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export your data, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing that already happened. To exercise these rights, contact us at [TODO: real contact email].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Your rights (California and other US states)

If you're a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, to request its deletion or correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA.

You can exercise these rights by contacting us at [TODO: real contact email]. We won't discriminate against you for doing so.

Children

Planneo isn't directed at, and we don't knowingly collect data from, anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Planneo evolves. We'll update the date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app.
